Leila Ben-Gacem is an Ashoka fellow and a socio-cultural entrepreneur who designs projects aimed at improving the socio-economic dynamics of crafts, culture, and historic urban spaces through Blue Fish. Leila founded Dar Ben Gacem and Dar el Harka, two social enterprises that create socio-cultural opportunities for the urban regeneration of the Medina of Tunis. She also serves as the president of GIE Mdinti and the treasurer of UltraMirage El Djerid. Prior to deciding to change careers, Leila held various positions in multinational corporations and earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering.
The talk will focus on defining a social enterprise, case study discussion and examples of social entrepreneurs from the history of Tunisia.
