Girmaw Abebe Tadesse

Bio: Girmaw is a Research Scientist at IBM Research Africa working in AI Science team, mostly on anomalous systematic deviation in data and machine learning models. This extends to the performance evaluation of generative models for scientific discovery. Prior to IBM, Girmaw worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, where he primarily developed deep learning techniques to assist diagnosis of cardiovascular and infectious diseases. He often works in multiple projects with international collaborations including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Harvard University, Stanford University and Oxford University. Girmaw completed his PhD at Queen Mary University of London. He has worked in various research groups across Europe, including BarcelonaTech in Spain, KU Leuven in Belgium, and INESC-ID in Portugal.
